My name is Ron McCoy. I’m the Director of Affinity Spanish Language Solutions, and also an occasional blogger. Mainly I’m a business guy, though with an interest in language to be sure.
My interest in language increased a few years back when I married into a Hispanic family. We have a kindergarten-aged daughter who’s being raised to be bilingual, though truth-be-told I don’t deserve much of the credit. Aside from a few words and expressions here and there, I don’t speak Spanish (a little ironic I suppose). Naturally I leave the language part of our business to the pros.
Like I said, I’m a business guy, marketing in particular. In that department, adding it all up, I guess I have more than 20 years of professional experience ranging from start-ups to multi-national corporations. Prior to Affinity Spanish, I was a corporate officer in a Colorado-based technology company recently acquired by Microsoft. As far as education goes, a few years back the University of Colorado at Boulder was kind enough to grant me an MBA in finance and marketing. So far they haven’t asked for it back.
I started this blog to record some of my thoughts and ideas about the business and trade associated with Spanish translation and other language based business solutions. I do have ulterior motives. For one I’m hoping to learn from those who know more about certain areas than I do. Maybe we can all learn something.
